Tux Rentals - The hard part is over.  You got up the courage to ask the girl you’ve been into to the prom and she said YES!  Amazing, but the stress of your prom doesn’t end there. You have to make sure you look good too.

This means finding the perfect tux to rent, not necessarily an easy task.  There are so many factors you have to consider that getting the “yes” out of that cute girl you just asked to the prom seems like the easiest part so far.

Well, don’t fret… we are here to help.  Just follow these simple guidelines and your tuxedo rental experience will be as easy as stepping out on that dance floor.

First, find out what your date is going to wear.  At a minimum find out the color of her dress to make sure you don’t pick out a vest that clashes like you belong on a 70’s low budget film.  If she is going with black then you’re pretty much in luck, because anything goes with black, just about.  However, if she is wearing red then you don’t want to have much green in your tuxedo ensemble.  There is nothing worse than looking like you belong on a Christmas card when looking through your prom pictures.

Next, remember that the classic styles never go out of style.  You might think it’s cool to wear the newest tuxedo style fads, but it’s not.  In a few years you’ll look back at those prom pictures and say to yourself, “What the heck was I thinking wearing that thing?!”  Classic three button tuxedos are a great way to go.  If you want to get fancy because you are a character then use your tuxedo accessories to do so.

Speaking of accessories there are a few things you will need:

A vest or cummerbund is a must.  If you can pull off a cummerbund and bow tie than we say more power to you, wear it with pride.  If you’re not so daring then just go with a classic tux vest, bow tie (or tux tie), tuxedo shirt buttons, and some shiny patent leather tux shoes.  If you have those four things you are all set.

You can rent tuxedos for anywhere from $60 to $250 depending on the tuxedo rental shop you’re at.  If you think you are going to need to wear the tux more than once then you might just want to spring for a new one.  Buying a tux is not as expensive as you might think.  Many men’s discount stores have them.

By the way, DON’T FORGET flowers and a corsage for your date.  Don’t be “that” guy and forget one.

Your local tuxedo rental shop can answer most of your questions.  If they can’t, go someplace else.  Your prom should be a good experience, don’t let shopping for a tux ruin it.
